2024-2028 Strategic Plan
VISIBILITY
The Junior League of San Jose is recognized by its Members, Community Partners, Civic Leaders, and Non-profit Colleagues as a significant contributor to developing a diverse group of women leaders who impact their communities.
Strategies:
- Leverage and collaborate with other Junior Leagues, local non-profits, and women’s organizations
- Sponsor a legacy or new Signature Event
- Strengthen Brand recognition by optimizing multiple communication channels
- Develop relationships with female and/or BIPOC-owned businesses and organizations to foster community and collective power
- Achieve public acknowledgment for our work impacting communities and developing women leaders
MEMBERSHIP
The Junior League of San Jose recruits, trains, empowers, and retains a diverse group of women to be qualified organizational leaders who elevate and sustain the League.
Strategies:
- Provide a purpose-driven training and development curriculum designed to cultivate inclusive leaders and increase our leadership pipeline
- Create a well-rounded, inclusive experience where Members aspire to participate in a wide variety of programming events and training
- Increase New Member recruitment by 20% each year through an innovative year-round recruitment strategy focused on cultivating diverse perspectives within our Membership
- Incorporate Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) goals annually at the Committee level across all programs and councils
FUND DEVELOPMENT
The Junior League of San Jose ensures sustainability through a diverse set of revenue sources that support budget and programming needs as well as aligns with the capacity of Members.
Strategies:
- Identify viable fundraising efforts that connect the community and engage new stakeholders to support a fundraising plan
- Leverage passive funding streams
- Train Members and create opportunities to procure financial resources
- Expand strategies for donor identification and stewardship
COMMUNITY
The Junior League of San Jose will positively impact our community in a measurable way, while providing meaningful volunteer,
educational, leadership, and advocacy opportunities to our Members.
Strategies:
- Develop mutually beneficial partnerships that reflect the League’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) and help create structural change in the community
- Foster community leadership by training Members to articulate and address our Community Focus area and local needs, empowering them as civic leaders for impactful change
- Contribute resources to support other non-profit organizations focused on our mission or community focus area

By the end of the 2027-2028 League year, JLSJ will have made a measurable and visible impact towards:
- being recognized as thought leaders for community change
- cultivating a diverse leadership pipeline 3 years out
- a Membership that more closely reflects the broader community
- diversifying revenue streams that are attainable with the capacity of the League
