Community Partner
The Junior League of San Jose is proud to partner with Hunger at Home, a vital local organization dedicated to combating food insecurity and fostering self-sufficiency in Silicon Valley. This ongoing collaboration reflects JLSJ’s commitment to addressing critical community needs and amplifying the impact of organizations making a tangible difference in the lives of our neighbors.
To maximize our collective impact, JLSJ is providing Hunger at Home with a $50,000 unrestricted grant to support their operations and expand their reach. This partnership will also leverage JLSJ’s Community Impact Strategies to support their work. This partnership will encompass:
- Coalition Building: We will work with Hunger at Home to connect with other community groups and leaders, and develop shared plans for better utilizing resources and creating long-term change.
- Advocacy/Policy Awareness: We will work together to raise awareness about food insecurity, educate JLSJ Members across the state about related policy issues, and advocate for changes that address the root causes of hunger.

- Capacity Building: We will provide Hunger at Home with training, support, and resources to help themĀ strengthen their organization. This will include workshops and assistance on topics such as managing their operations, running their organization, and working with volunteers, all tailored to Hunger at Home’s identified needs.
- Direct Service: JLSJ Members will volunteer directly in Hunger at Home’s programs, such as food distribution, providing hands-on support to individuals and families affected by food insecurity.
Hunger at Home has already made a significant impact in our community. Since 2015, they have served over 12.6 million meals and currently prepare and distribute nearly 100,000 meals annually. Their efforts include rescuing 400,000 pounds of surplus food each year and providing support to more than 47 nonprofit and community-based organizations through ongoing food distributions.
Through our strengthened partnership, we aim to amplify this impact and create lasting change. Learn more about Hunger at Home at hungerathome.org.
