State Public Affairs Committee (CalSPAC)

Founded in 1971, the Junior League of California State Public Affairs Committee (CalSPAC) is a non-partisan education and advocacy organization representing nearly 7,000 women in 17 Junior Leagues statewide. Comprised exclusively of volunteer representatives, CalSPAC advocates for policies that improve the lives of California women, children and families.

CalSPAC’s advocacy efforts are targeted to legislation in the following focus areas, which reflect the priorities of the participating Junior Leagues of California: Health, Education, Family Support, Violence Prevention, and Anti-Human Trafficking.

Each year, two Members of JLSJ serve as Delegates for our League in CalSPAC. These Members are called the “Senior SPAC Delegate” and “Junior SPAC Delegate.” They advocate for legislation relevant to the above focus areas, educate other Members of JLSJ about advocacy and public policy, and coordinate the exchange of information from community-based League projects to policymakers.
